TOTE BAG

Moving from A to B isn’t always easy, aunty... especially in the sexy NZ raumati. You’re dashing down to the beach, needing that water bottle, digging to the bottom of the bag for your car keys while you’re already sweating. You told your mate you’d meet them for a cheeky beevie at the bar, but you’ve got all your goods on you. No worries. With the Flows by Rau tote, you’re ready for every occasion. Plenty of pockets for all those little niggly things, like, “WHERE’S MY LIGHTER?!” Aunty’s got you covered for summer.

Perfect for you, the beach days and.... perfect for that last minute Xmas gift.

KĀMETA

Inspired by my recent travels to Colombia — Mokomoko / Lizard.

While I was there the lizard appeared often in conversations, a symbol of movement, of stories, and what they carry across cultures. It speaks to exchange: mouths meeting, stories shared, carried, and passed on.

The many small manaia / spiritual guardians in the mokomoko (lizard) highlight our many ancestors. This piece reflects the chain effect of conversation , the importance of listening and not asking too many questions. The small motif at the end of the waha is a representation of the future generations who will hold these kōrero.

The Border: It highlights the Aramoana,  how we all travelled from different oceans, congregating on this one whenua.

My wish and hope for these pieces is to let people feel safe and seen within their own identity / indigenous self — to have a piece of home, connection, and story with you wherever you go.

For me, this scarf has given me a sense of security; in some sense, a known purpose and a reminder that I’m walking in two worlds. A safety blanket of my culture in the outside world. A connection to my people.

It brings warmth and a feeling of pride.
